A Haven for the Diehard Sox Fan

"Look at this," says Martinez to a visitor. He offers up his right hand, the very hand of God, as it were, if you happen to be among an extremist sect of Web-based Red Sox zealots, such as those who commune on www.redsoxdiehard.com.

- Tom Verducci,
Sports Illustrated

A Haven for the Diehard Sox Fan was launched in November, 1998. It is the work of me, Kristen Cornette, and it has developed into a large site with a big Fenway Park section, stories from fans, an online bookstore, player pages, and a complete tribute to the 2004 World Champions. A Haven for the Diehard Sox Fan is always growing. I maintain the site in my spare time and post updates and new pages as often as possible. This website was featured as Internet Site of the Month in the March 1999 issue of Diehard Magazine. That April I was featured on Ed Donahue's Red Sox Opening Day report on Boston radio station WBZ, 1030 AM. In September, 1999, the site re-launched under its new domain name, www.redsoxdiehard.com.

In March of 2000, Sports Illustrated's baseball preview issue picked the Red Sox to win the World Series, and mentioned this website in its cover story on Pedro Martinez. OK, so it didn't exactly work out that way, but the important thing to remember here is that Sports Illustrated is not to blame. Who needs an alleged jinx from a magazine when you've had the Curse of the Bambino to contend with?

I love to hear from other fans. I've received letters from all over the nation, as well as from Canada, England, Venezuela, Korea, and Tanzania. Diehard Sox Fans are everywhere! I spent a couple of years exiled in Atlanta, but finally got to move back to Massachusetts a couple of years ago. It's a lot of fun to be back in a place where baseball remains a hot topic of conversation all year long. Every year I can't wait for the new season to start, and I spend every day I can at the ballpark, so look out Fenway Park, here I come!

Enjoy your visit to A Haven for the Diehard Sox Fan, and please come back soon. I've added a Message Board, which is a great place to express your opinions on any aspect of the team. And feel free to drop me a note with any comments, suggestions, or stories you may have!

Go Sox!  This is the year!
